All around operations!

A brief history.

waaazap! started as @ozombo's side project in winter 2008. It was intially a simple tool used within his dorm in Babcock University to chat among residents of the dorm. A lot of people used it and he met a few cool guys like @kponja, @imperium, @gbeps and @londonboy. Together they founded Cybernator Solutions a software and web development firm in Lagos, Nigeria. The company then launched #waaazap on September 3, 2009.

How did we get the name?

We had quite a few problems giving our amazing website a nice name. We once called it feembo, bonobo, xclusive and even moov. All these names didn't fit so we headed into the Nametionary to find the perfect web 2.0 name for our website. Out of nowhere @ozombo decided that we call it wazaap which was a different way to say What's up. Obviously that domain was taken so we created our own spelling #waaazap. Everybody loved it at once so #waaazap it stayed!

Revenue Model?

#waaazap is our hobby! Everybody on the team do what they do for the love of #waaazap. Making some money while we have fun doesn't hurt anybody, so we built a standard advertising platform and model that isn't in use anywhere and we mean ANYWHERE.
